What the market blurb says

Utilising new ”MegaTank” technology, Canon”s G series Pixma printers have ink tanks that you refill with a bottle when they get low. This system, which works similarly to Epson’s EcoTank, ensures that print costs are very affordable with the mid-range, G3500.

What Rethink Printing says

  • wireless
  • supplied with ink bottle which will allow you to print 6000 pages in black and 7000 in colour

  • no automatic double sided printing
  • no screen
  • very hard to setup on the wireless
  • no ADF (single sheet scan/copy)
  • modest print speed and quality
  • very expensive to buy around £250

What our printer engineer Marius says

I was very surprised to see that Canon has launch a printer with refillable tanks which will allow you to print up to 7000 pages in colour and up to 6000 pages in black without the very basic features. The lack of duplex, ADF, network port and a basic printer display is nonsense . I am not able to figure out what they are targeting as a home user will print  no more than 100 pages/month so that will be the equivalent of  5 years worth of printing. However the manufacturer guarantee is only 1 year. A very similar printer the Canon MG 3650 which will use ink cartridges cost only £39 instead of £250  and it does have automatic double side printing as standard
