HP M426 FDW Multi-function MFC

What the marketing blurb says

The HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426fdw  monochrome laser multifunction printer (MFP) is capable enough to serve as a shared printer, but small and inexpensive enough to consider for heavy-duty personal use. It’s also one of the more impressive MFPs in its category, with fast print performance, excellent paper handling, a full set of MFP features, and extras like mobile and cloud printing. Its text quality is at the low end of what we consider typical for the breed, but it’s easily good enough for most business use

What Rethink Printing says

  • one of the most compact mono MFP on the market
  • fastest mono printer on its class (up to 38 ppm)
  • air print
  • fax
  • duplex printing
  • single pass duplex scanning
  • high yield cartridges (9000 pages based on 5% coverage)
  • scan to email
  • 550 sheet paper drawer (optional)
  • touch screen
  • very light

  • HP OEM cartridges are hugely overpriced
  • the build quality is as expected from any budget printer and the multipurpose tray is very flimsy
  • awkward to remove paper jammed in the fusing area

What our printer engineer Marius says

As you will see from most of the reviews this mono printer will get 4.5 and 5 stars ratings. The reason why is because there are not many other machines on the market who can produce almost 40 pages/minute and offer you all the features as the HP M426fdw. Duplex printing, single pass duplex scanning, touch screen, air print, google print, fax, scan to email and optional  high capacity cartridges all of those under £300. The build quality is as you would expect from most of the budget laser printers and I can’t comment on reliability just yet.
